UltraLith™
UltraLith is a new separator (patent pending) material that offers multiple performance improvements for lithium ion batteries.

Compared to other separators, UltraLith provides higher porosity, higher air permeability and the highest resistance to temperature. It is specifically engineered to deliver maximum performance power density while being competitively priced for higher volume applications.

FAS™
The Flexible Alkaline Separator (FAS, patent 6,372,379) is the founding membrane developed by AMS. It is a microporous polyethylene (PE) separator specifically designed for alkaline battery applications. Compared to cellophane and other separators, FAS offers 200% performance improvements in sliver zinc, silver cadmium, nickel zinc, nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride, zinc air and similar battery types.

HydroSep™
Coming soon is a thin, high performance separator for primary and secondary alkaline applications. This mineral base material will be primarily hydrophilic, thus inherently wettable. This is in direct contrast to 100% hydrophobic separators that require grafting of another material. This separator has extremely low electrical resistance and will significantly improve the capacity and life of such batteries as silver zinc, Ni-Zinc, Ni-Cad, Ni-MH and Zinc-Air. Expected commercial availability is Q4, 2005.

Process Technologies
Wet Process - AMS manufactures microporous separators using wet process technology. This includes state-of-the-art extrusion equipment, extraction equipment, biaxial stretching equipment, and a variety of other related process technologies.

Dry Process - AMS is also very knowledgeable about the various blown film extrusion, annealing, stretching and slitting steps associated with dry process technology.
